The end of term is fast approaching and as part of our festivities there will be the fun of our Summer Production. The children are eagerly learning lines, practising their songs and staging the performance under the careful direction of Mrs Khatib.
This year, after listening to the opinions of parents, pupils and staff a decision was made, earlier in the year, to hold the production in school. There were a number of factors considered in reaching this decision including: the impact on the overall teaching and learning for all pupils across the school during Term 6, the availability of the village hall on our chosen dates (the hall is not available on the dates/times set for the production in our school calendar), the flexibility and frequency of rehearsals, the staging of the production and space required, the financial aspects of putting on such a production (e.g. cost of scripts, performance licences etc.) and the inclusion of all our pupils for some aspects of the production so that it is a whole school venture, in the same way that our Christmas Production was this year.
Whilst this is a change to what has happened historically and I know there was some initial element of disappointment, I know the production will be a great success and the children will have the same fun and enjoyment as has been seen in previous years. The children will still be performing on a stage that we are having specially erected in our school hall.
Having listened to a number of parents, we will also be holding one performance in the afternoon and one performance in the evening. This allows our lower school pupils from Classes 1 and 2 to take part in our afternoon performance.
The dates/times for the performances are as follows:
Tuesday 19th July 2016 2.00pm–3.30pm (incl. 20min interval).
This performance will include our lower school pupils from Class 1 and Class 2.
Wednesday 20th July 2016 7.00pm-8.30pm (incl. 20min interval). This performance is upper school pupils only (Class 3 and Class 4 pupils).
