We believe that all of our children can become fluent readers and writers. This is why we teach reading through Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, which is a systematic and synthetic phonics programme. This approach ensures children build on their growing knowledge of the alphabetic code, mastering phonics to read and spell as they move through the school.
We provide a balance of child-led and adult-led experiences for all children that meet the curriculum expectations for ‘Communication and language’ and ‘Literacy.’ These include:
Daily phonics lessons in Reception

Home Learning
Home Learning tasks are uploaded to Tapestry each Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday. Reading books are sent home three times a week with the expectation that each book will be shared with an adult at home at least twice. Flash cards with the phonic sounds we are learning are sent home so that these can be practised at home. We also send home 'Rabbit' cards with our tricky words on for these to be practised at home too.
For our maths learning we use Doodle Maths which is an online platform for practicing learnt maths skills in an interactive and dynamic way
